We conserve land through outreach, restoration, and research.
For those fortunate enough to live in Natick, you know what a vibrant, close knit community it is. From the regular events held on the Commons to the ongoing project to revitalize downtown Natick and augment the many smaller Mom & Pop stores that one can already peruse; to the eclectic mix of restaurants; to our excellent school system and extensive library; to a Commuter Rail system that will transport you to Boston in 30 minutes; to shuttle vans that transport residents all through the city; to an overall feeling of security. Natick has it all.
In addition, Natick’s Sustainability Coordinator has made great advances in reducing the town’s carbon footprint by replacing all the street lights with energy efficient LED lamps, as well as through her Solarize Natick program and by expanding the number of charging stations for electric vehicles. More recently the town began a curbside composing program and also rolled out a very successful rain barrel program for residents; all in an effort to conserve our precious resources.
We’re all very lucky to live in such a unique town with such close proximity to the world-renowned, beacon-on-the-hill city of Boston. But with all that Natick has to offer, there are some areas that need improvement. One in particular is beautification work—most notably litter control. And that’s where Keep Natick Beautiful (KNB) comes in.
KNB is a chapter of Keep Massachusetts Beautiful (KMB), which in turn is the state affiliate of Keep America Beautiful (KAB), one of the nation’s oldest conservation organizations. Founded in 1953, KAB is the largest community improvement organization in the United States.
Keep Natick Beautiful is proud to be one of the first affiliate towns to be selected by KMB. And in recognition of all its efforts thus far: multiple town clean-ups along streets and other public venues, to open space and trail clean-ups along the Cochituate Rail Trail, maintaining various recycling and trash bins around town, as well as other beautification efforts, Keep Natick Beautiful has been identified and chosen to set a standard for what other participating KMB communities in Massachusetts can accomplish.
The town of Natick covers a large footprint, and we are an all-volunteer organization. So we could always use your help to Keep Natick Beautiful. Volunteering is easy. Make a pledge to monitor and do period clean-ups on a particular street in your neighborhood. Or sign up to take part in one of the various group clean-ups that KNB does. We supply all the tools and arrange to pick up any trash collected. Learn how to get involved by sending an email to Pat Conaway at email@example.com.
Together we can Keep Natick Beautiful!
